Software: Miro, Figma
Methods: Qualitative research (user interviews, affinity mapping, walk the wall)
Time period: October 2024 - Ongoing
This ongoing study aims to design an AR viewer for QField. We identified the key needs of QField end-users regarding interactivity with geospatial (2D/3D) data in situ and explored suitable form factors (e.g., handheld devices and head-mounted displays) for a range of common geospatial tasks. During this process, I conducted 12 semi-structured interviews with experts from different disciplines who are using QField or similar applications in situ. Afterwards, using the affinity diagram method, I organized/clustered all the data with two approaches. First, according to our research questions, and second, according to the output that the users formulate. At this step, I was able to formulate Point of Views (PoVs) to help us translate these insights into the design. Currently, the development and visualization techniques of the AR content are being tested by student projects, as we continue to collaborate with our partners.
